I’ve decided to finally pull the plug and make the move to Bluesky. I haven’t really been active in the last 12-18 months in X and at most, I’ve only used my account to follow others there. Over the weekend, I took a look at Mastodon, but for some reason the UX and experience didn’t hit home at first and that sparked me to check out Bluesky.
I had signed up for an account when they became available in batches to those queing and gettiing invited by others. It had been dormant for quite some time.
When I signed in, I was happy to see a clean and usable UX that resembles the Twitter UX. But alas, how can I find those people I followed?
A quick Google search revealed that there’s a tool called Sky Follower Bridge which enables your browser to skim through accounts you follow and then check the Bluesky API to try and find those. I followed some 1580 accounts in X and was really happy to see that about 620 had made the switch already.
Of course I don’t anticipate everyone to flock to Blusky immediately, as there’s a lot more positive competition and alternatives to X these days (see Mastodon). However, I’m happy to be on a platform that is’t run in quite such a worrying manner as X is. I’ll just leave it at that.
